Meet Tink! An exciting world awaits this young pup of just shy of a year old. Missing both her front legs from birth; Tink has never experienced the traumatic events that often leave cats and dogs with less than four paws. Tink, from her start has always seen herself as whole and perfect in just the same way she sees all of us.

Henry first met Tink in January at a dinner party. Tink’s adabtability to the world around her impressed Henry and is what attracted Henry to his new friend.  All evening long they frolicked around the house running (or bouncing in Tink’s case) from room to room. They only time you saw either of them not playing was when Henry would jump up onto the couch where Tink could not follow.

Henry has admitted that he might be falling for his new friend and that there may be a love story developing. They have spent nearly everyday since then writing letters back and forth to each other. Recently Henry shared the excitement he felt towards his new friend that he shared this letter with his PawPals:

Well, Tink and I have traded many a letter back and forth and we arranged for an overnight trip at my home in Julian.  Both of our Moms were a bit concerned that perhaps we were rushing things, but we made sure it happened. Neither of us slept well on Friday night waiting for her arrival in Julian on Saturday morning.  Then it happened, the doorbell rang, and into my life bounded dear little Tink.  She is sooooooo pretty, she just sort of melts my heart. She brought me flowers and wine and I gave her a special three-legged cat cookie. We were off to a good start.

She reminds my Mom of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, she just bounces.  I am not entirely sure what to do when she bounces right in my face.  It takes me off guard. She said she couldn’t help it, that is the way she knows how to get around so I will just have to get used to being bounced at.  You know, I am the kind of guy that likes to do the pursuing and have things on my terms. Little Tink throws all that to the wind; she just follows me everywhere. It was very windy out for the two days.  We watched the birds but mostly we watched each other. I tried to be a gentlecatman and shared my bed with her. That raised a few Mom eyebrows. Neither Tink nor I get why we can't share a bed.  Humans, go figure.  Tink brought her own very nice little portable crib.   I liked looking in on her because then she wasn't bouncing on my head.

I introduced her to my Bed Bears and she liked them and we lay side by side for a bit and then she decided she would try and play wrestle on top of me.  I didn't know what to do so I jumped down.  She looked a little hurt but soon she was back. She is a very cheerful girl.

Tink got on the blanket that had a picture of a Jack Russell dog on it.  All she could see was very big paws. Since she doesn’t have any front ones she thought maybe she would lie down on it and see if they rubbed off onto her.

Finally, after a very bouncy day we all went to bed.  The next morning Tink was not quite so bouncy. She was very red and sore on her sweet little chest. She had rug burn from all her chasing after me.

I am looking to have a special something made for her to protect her sweet chest. I felt bad that she was sore. Her Moms assured me she would be alright, just needed a day or two of not so much bouncing.

So, we are back to our writing until we meet next time. Just wanted to let you know what was happening.

Hugs and Purrs, a smitten kitten,

Henry jm
